Wolaita Sodo University (WSU) ወላይታ ዩንቨርስቲ

Wolaita Sodo University (WSU) (ወላይታ ሶዶ ዩኒቨርሲቲ) is a public university located in Wolaita Sodo town, South Peoples' Region, Ethiopia. It is approximately 339 kilometers (210.65 miles) far from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia in the southwest direction. The university was established on March 24, 2007, G.C. It is one of the second-generation universities in Ethiopia.

The university was established on March 24, 2007, G.C. at its current location Wolaita Sodo. After a while, the first completed phase of the construction provided the basis for the operation of Wolaita Sodo University college, as it was first named, which received its first batch, 801 (609 Male and 192 female) students in four faculties and sixteen departments. Out of these numbers, 569 (481 male and 88 female) of them completed their studies and graduated with a BSc and B.A. degree on July 18, 2009.

Wolaita Sodo University is committed to providing undergraduate, graduate, and other specialty programs that enable students to attain their fullest potential intellectually, ethically, and morally. Currently, 58 undergraduate and 43 graduate programs including five doctorates (Ph.D.) degree programs are running under six colleges and four schools. The university delivers courses in regular, evening, weekend, and summer modalities. Students’ enrollment in all programs has shown increment and reached over 30,000 in 2018/19 G.C. During the 2017/18 academic year, the academic staff composition is boosted to 131, and over 3113 administrative staff population are voraciously striving to achieve institutional goals. In the previous years, the university also graduated over 24, 000 alumni in undergraduate and graduate programs.
